Dear Reader,
When we left the Queen Mary 2 in Southampton, I was nervous.
This was the part of the trip to Portugal without close friends or family.
Doug didn’t travel with us because a.) his passport is still at the Portuguese consulate in Boston waiting for his visa approval, and b.) he gets extreme motion sickness on boats.
That’s why my friend Marilee jumped in to claim his spot on the Queen Mary 2 and joined me and Loki in Brooklyn for our journey across the North Atlantic.
She was a godsend!
We said a brief goodbye the morning we left the ship and she went on to catch a flight home.
Meanwhile Loki and I left for Portugal by pet taxi.
