well I love this that I came across it. I'm an American born Portuguese gal- I know my roots better than your guest, luckily. Mom was born here first generation- my VoVo was from Chaves and came her at 16. My dad was born in Algarve- came here himself at 16 and met my mom. I am 100% purebred!!! Also like your guest, was not taught Portuguese, although my parents spoke it well and we were part of the local club/ church community. During Covid, I created a project to get my dual citizenship, but our local office is inadequate and closing. I hit snag after snag. I am revived after hearing this episode, so I will take it up again. My mom did extensive work in Ancestry.com - so that may be an option to find out more! I do not think I would ever live there full time but I like the idea of staying for a few months at a time. Thank you for your story!!!!
My brother landed in AZ-Tucson, and he passed away, now my youngest brother is out there. I feel such a connection to this story!!!
I'm so glad you enjoyed this and it inspired you! Please do - take it up again! It's completely worth it. You're very lucky to be Portuguese. It's a wonderful country with wonderful people. We're so glad we ended up here. Keep going!
Thank you Jen! I’ve had great guests! Including you! Such a pleasure to chat with great people. Gives me hope for who we’ll meet when we’re there too.

Janelle, once again, another deeply interesting podcast. Thank you. Carol, it was interesting to hear your thoughts about life in Portugal.

Same. Plus, we'll already know people.
