Life in a different country makes even going to the grocery store something exciting. :) Sometimes google translate makes things sound so sweet and fun.
Haha, we have our own Fabio here who has often been quite helpful. In fact, his neighbor is currently downstairs in our living room. Long live the Fabios!
Indeed Larissa! Long live the Fabios! I didn’t realize how common of a name it is until we moved here. Just another wonderful surprise from Portugal. 🇵🇹
LOL! Good question Scott! So, a lot of Uber and Bolt drivers have separate businesses where they will drive privately. Many of them hand us business cards when they learn that we don't have a car and offer to schedule with us privately. We've worked with several this way, in particular people who drive slowly since Doug gets motion sick easily (and actually, me too).
With Fabio, he drove us home very very slowly the first time he drove us so I asked him if he would mind regularly driving us, and then we exchanged WhatsApp numbers. I schedule with him via WhatsApp and then when he gets here we actually use the Uber app to pay him and he quickly accepts the request before another driver can. Plus I add a tip for scheduling in advance with us. It's a pretty competitive industry so drivers are always looking for regular income, and riders here are looking for people they can depend on too.
I didn't think you could top the one about your mother and pies in the trunk, but this one had me laughing until tears came. Thank you. I needed a good laugh. A brooding Fabio with chocolates. I love it!
Thank you so much McKenzie! That's high praise indeed! My mom's pies in the trunk are indeed both delicious and highly funny. I'm so glad Fabio made you laugh too. He makes me chuckle regularly.
I love that your mom is well prepared when she travels. In Montana that's almost essential. She is so generous with her pies and recipes and makes the best rhubarb pie I have ever had. I feel privileged to have met you both.
This made me laugh out loud. I'd love to be in the car singing along to the radio and doing my best to not laugh.
Well, come to Portugal! I'll take you for a ride and we can do that!
I'm still smiling.

Yes! It’s all an adventure. Thank you Susannah!

How is it that all of you have drivers? We just call an Uber. Where do you drivers come from?

Our driver is Flavio, with a bit less drama so far! 😏
Hahaha Lori! I love it! That's good! Fabio2 had lots less drama, but he "changed career paths" so we no longer get to ride with him.

Well McKenzie we are “extraordinary people”! Lol. 🤣 Thank you! You’ve been a great friend to us both. Appreciate you!
